Here at James Madison University, we come from different backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences. Each of us holds countless stories and identities, across race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and beyond.

What brings us together is a shared connection to a moment in 1908, when the foundation was laid for what would become the JMU we know and love today. Like the spark that ignited our university’s beginnings, 1908 Magazine hopes to bring together artists, writers, and creators from all corners of campus, building a collective narrative that is as diverse, vibrant, and authentic as the people who shape it.
